Astro Avenger 2 Review

Astro Avenger 2 is the sequel to the 3D space shooter from Sahmon Games. In this arcade installment, you take the role of a lone space craft off to fend aliens in a quest to vanquish their big bad mother ship. And to do just that, you seriously need some firepower, right? Well, fortunately, that's what you will get.

The objective of the game is for you to use your mouse buttons to fire lasers and shoot rockets at incoming enemy fleets. Use your mouse also to maneuver your space craft and evade enemy artillery. What I liked about the controls is how they are very responsive to your every move, and with that, comes easy evasion on many of the incoming attacks.

While most of the time, you'll be shooting and evading, you'll also have to collect power-ups from time to time too. Power-ups will greatly increase your chances for survival and will sometimes even add plasma to your inventory. Basically, plasma is the money currency in the game, and you must collect plasma in order to upgrade your ship and weapons, or buy rockets and probes - little unmanned ships that aid you in battle.

Astro Avenger 2 is a fun game with great production values as you may see from the graphics and in-game music. Besides this, the game is very much challenging too since when I talk about hordes of enemies; you'll definitely encounter swarms and swarms of them flying towards you. Adding up the fact that you'll need to balance your energy use whenever using lasers, this game is definitely much more dynamic than your usual shoot-em-up.

But still, the game is still like any arcade shoot-em-up so besides from the awesome 3D graphics and creative boss battles, you will not encounter additional features or mini-games to play. That's fine by me though, because honestly, I play this game with the idea of blasting some space metal anyway, and in this criterion, the game successfully delivers.

Warhammer Age of Reckoning Download

In case you have been living in the jungle, far away from civilization and the online gaming community, there is a great new game coming out called Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. It is being released by EA Mythic, the creators of Dark Age of Camelot and appears they have been watching and learning a lot about what players want in an MMORPG.

Warhammer Online will be released on September 18th and I believe it will be the next best thing in online games. Unlike many games out there, Warhammer has incorporated realm versus realm combat through out their game. You can begin to compete in RvR conflicts as soon as you create a new character. You don't have to wait until you are the maximum level to begin to have fun killing your fellow players.

You can participate in scenarios that restrict the number of players and what level the players are so that battlefield combat is somewhat balanced. You are assigned a group automatically so you don't have to spend thirty minutes looking for a group. The scenarios are quick, timed at fifteen minutes, but I have seen some completed as quickly as five minutes by a good team.

Each tier of zones includes a contested area that restricts the RvR content to only those within the levels of that tier. If you try to enter a tier that is too low for you, you will be turned in to a chicken! These areas have quests and battlefield objectives to encourage players to participate in RvR.

The current level cap is level 40, but there are also renown ranks to level, gaining players stat bonuses and battle tactics. Guilds also have ranks that are increased as its members collect renown points. Crafting is also ready to boost RvR combat by offering bonuses to stats and improving armor so you last longer in an RvR encounter.

Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning is available for download now. You can also buy the game from the usual retailers, but I'm betting there isn't one in the jungle, far away from civilization so just download it and be done with it.
